Let Stripe Be Your Merchant of Record
Stop being the legal seller of your web purchases. With Superwall web checkout and Stripe Managed Payments, Stripe takes the merchant-of-record role — tax, fraud, chargebacks, and buyer support — one eligible transaction at a time.
What you can do
-
Make it one switch. Enable Managed Payments in your Web Checkout app's Stripe Configuration — Superwall checks your Stripe account and product eligibility and shows exactly what needs fixing before it turns on.
-
Let Stripe own tax in 80+ countries. Sales tax, VAT, and GST are calculated per buyer and product, then filed and remitted by Stripe — the registrations and remittance calendar stop being yours.
-
Let Stripe fight your disputes. Fraud prevention runs automatically and Stripe manages chargebacks — including submitting dispute evidence on your behalf, with the submission fee covered when Stripe does it.
-
Give buyers a real support desk. Purchases are sold through Link, Stripe's consumer brand, so receipts, payment questions, and subscription management have somewhere to go that isn't your inbox — while refunds and subscription changes stay under your control.
-
Choose where it applies. Set the account-wide default and override it per paywall — run Managed Payments on one paywall, everywhere, or everywhere except the paywalls you carve out.
How it works
Set up web checkout as usual. Connect Stripe with the official Superwall Stripe app, add your products, and make sure each has the correct product tax code in Stripe — tax codes are the most common eligibility fix.
Flip the switch. Turn on Managed Payments in Stripe Configuration, accept the Stripe Connect terms if prompted, and clear anything the product eligibility list flags.
Sell like nothing changed. Eligible checkout sessions run with Stripe as the seller of record — buyers see the purchase as sold through Link. Transactions that don't clear Stripe's eligibility checks fall back to standard Stripe, where you remain the seller, so the funnel never breaks over eligibility.
Keep the analytics honest. Checkout and transaction events record whether Managed Payments was used, so you can compare managed and standard payments side by side in your reporting.
Use cases
-
Going international: sell into new markets without opening tax registrations in each one — Stripe handles compliance in 80+ countries.
-
Lean teams: indie apps and small studios get big-company payment operations — tax, fraud, disputes, support — without hiring for any of it.
-
High-volume dispute relief: as chargebacks scale with volume, Stripe's automated dispute handling replaces a queue someone on your team used to own.
-
App-to-web margins: route eligible app traffic to web checkout for better economics, with the seller-of-record obligations that come with web sales handled by Stripe.
